Cashmere's 2011 royalty and float wow the crowd at Olympia's Capitol Lakefair parade last July. Help keep that tradition alive by donating to the float fundraising campaign this year!
The Cashmere Float Association is running a fund-raising campaign for the 2012 parade season.
The Cashmere float, a long-time community tradition, is in about 10 parades a year, including Cashmere's own Founders' Days. The Cashmere Float Association aims to raise $10,000 to cover pageant expenses, royalty outfits, float construction and transportation to the parades.
This year's theme for the float is "The Heart of It," which celebrates Cashmere's unique location at the center of the state.
The float association is soliciting community donations. Send your contribution to the float association at P.O. Box 834, Cashmere, WA, 98815.
Businesses also can consider buying a $200 ad on the float trailer. The float truck and trailer travel around the state, from Spokane to Penticton. When not traveling, it is parked at the city parking lot on Division Street, providing exposure for those businesses that advertise on the trailer.
If you have questions about an ad on the float trailer, call 782-2717.
The annual royalty pageant is set for Feb. 26 at the Cashmere Middle School auditorium.
In Founders' Days news, the Founders' Days Committee is having its first meeting of the year at noon, Feb. 1, at Studebaker's restaurant. If you are interested in helping at this year's community celebration, please attend.
