Cashmere Coffeehouse begins 11th season with Northern Departure

Northern Departure returns! Come out Saturday night and help the Cashmere Community Coffeehouse kick off their 11th season of providing high quality live acoustic music to the Wenatchee Valley.

Get your bluegrass blood flowing on Saturday, January 28, at 7:30 pm, when NORTHERN DEPARTURE ignites the Cashmere Community Coffeehouse (CCC) stage for their third tour, delivering their special brand of solid and high energy bluegrass. This band is nothing less than a bluegrass tornado that will infuse and transfuse every note directly to your bluegrass core and launching the CCC’s 11th season. We just hope we can keep the doors on their hinges.

Influenced by many musical genres, they have encapsulated those influences to produce their own and individual bluegrass sound called Northern Departure. Highly requested in the Northwest music scene, this young band has already appeared on the stages of Seattle's Moore and Paramount theaters. They have played many of the well known bluegrass festivals on the west coast.

Playing a mix of original, contemporary, and bluegrass favorites, Northern Departure delivers an energized performance that just might leave you breathless.

Derek Gray on bass drives the tunes with his definitive bass groove. He played with Three Generations prior to Northern Departure. Derek is becoming known as one of the Northwest’s premier bassists.

Nick Dumas on mandolin and fiddle serves as lead vocalist for the group. Nick was also a member of Three Generations and is a member of the gospel bluegrass band, The Ancient Tones.

Chris Luquette on guitar and mandolin is equally at home in a multitude of genres and is a talented multi-instrumentalist. In addition to Northern Departure, Chris has played with VZ Valley Boys, The Michael O’Neill Band and Next Best Thing of Johnson City Tennessee.

Austin McGregor on banjo tears it up on the instrumentals leaving audiences captivated and amazed. He, too, was a member of Three Generations. Austin also adds harmony vocal and is a very talented bass vocalist.

This music event is brought to you by the good folks of the Cashmere Community Coffeehouse, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide live, affordable, high quality entertainment to the Wenatchee Valley. A cover charge of $3.00 per person at the door will help to cover expenses. Refreshments are provided.

The musicians will be paid by a onetime Hat Pass; a suggested donation of $8 to $11 per person will be greatly appreciated.

The Riverside Center is located at 201 Riverside Drive, Cashmere, WA. Doors open at 7:00 pm.
