Jennye Helen Quehrn

October 19, 1924 ~ January 31, 2012

Jennye Helen Quehrn passed into the arms of her savior on January 31, 2012, and her loved ones firmly believe, into the arms of her waiting husband, Bill, who preceded her in death. Jennye is survived by her son, William (Mary) Quehrn; daughter, Patricia (John) McIntyre; and son, Markham (Jane) Quehrn; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Jennye was born October 19, 1924, to John and Mary Young of De Soto, MO. She was called by her middle name of Helen until, in 1944, she took her place in the Greatest Generation by joining the Women's Army Corps. While stationed in Santa Monica, CA, Corporal Young met Army Air Corps Sgt. William Quehrn from Cashmere, WA. They were married in Santa Monica on June 23, 1945. Following their discharges from the service, the couple returned to Cashmere and eventually moved to Seattle, WA. Jennye and Bill lived in Seattle for most of their lives, where Bill opened an insurance agency. Jennye started helping in the office, soon becoming the office manager and eventually, a partner in the business. Over the years, Bill and Jennye became active and dedicated members of Faith Lutheran Church in Seattle, WA. After they sold the insurance agency and retired, they helped found Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Startup, WA, and became active members of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mesa, AZ, where they settled after several years of post retirement traveling. In his later years, Bill's health was ravaged by rheumatoid arthritis, eventually crippling him. Jennye will always be remembered for her many years of selfless care given to her husband. Following his passing, she returned to the Seattle area, where she lived in an adult family home under the loving care of Vio Gradinaru and her wonderful staff, with several of her children and grandchildren nearby.

Jennye will be laid to rest at the Cashmere City Cemetery in Cashmere, WA on Friday, February 10, 2012. A Memorial Service will be held for Jennye in Seattle at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Faith Lutheran Church, 8208 18th Avenue NE, Seattle. Please leave your thoughts and memories for the family on our online memorial site www.jonesjonesbettts.com. Arrangements are by Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home, Wenatchee.
