Come out to Apple Days this weekend and treat yourself and your family to loads of fun!

Fall is in the air: Ahhh… the first day of October! And that means the arrival of Apple Days! The annual Apple Days event at the Cashmere Museum is an opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate our heritage and the harvest of our local apples. It’s also the one fundraiser of the year that helps support a community asset that so many folks have worked so hard for over the years – the Cashmere Museum and Pioneer Village. Come out both Saturday and Sunday, October 1 and 2. Breakfast begins both days at 8 a.m. and action wraps up both days at 5 p.m. Enjoy some good old-fashioned family fun while supporting a community asset at the same time. Admission is $2 for kids and $5 for adults, but it promises to be the best investment you’ll ever make!

Loads of family fun: Kids will have a blast at Apple Days! The Tillicum Riders of Cashmere will be on hand to show their impressive professional horsemanship and offer horseback rides for kids in the park both days. There will also be realistic shoot-outs where those on the wrong side of the law suffer the consequences, Old West style. There will be a Kids Imagination Station and Wenatchee Youth Circus performers. And you can get some great fresh-baked goods at the Bake Sale, where apples, of course, rule the day. Then there is an arrowhead making demonstration by flint knapping expert Fred Harvey – it’s really amazing watching him craft a razor sharp edge on a piece of obsidian. But don’t get too close… those shards are very sharp. Fred will also be demonstrating how to bake a salmon on a hot stone. Kids will be able to learn how to pan for gold and shoot an arrow with a bow. And a used book sale could provide families with lots of good reading material at a very low price – you never know what you may find to read.

Featured live music: Saturday around noon the Chelsea Craven Band will perform bluegrass music with a local flair. That will be followed by a performance from the Gretchell Four. Then on Sunday afternoon starting around 2:00, live music will be provided by the Cashmere High School music department.

Annual family memberships to the museum are available. Please call the museum for more information at 782-3230.
