This is Reid Rumann pieing Jacob in the face at our last fundraiser. Reid was the highest bidder at our pie auction and got the reward of creaming Jacob for charity.
182 days are all that remain for local Jacob Acheson to train for his cycling trip across the country. The trip itself will take 8 weeks to cycle from Seattle to New York and he and his team will raise over $30,000 along the way to go towards fighting human trafficking and slavery. But in order to make the trip possible he and his family have to raise $12000 to cover all the expenses. Bike gear, equipment, lost wages and food money are just a few things on his list of items still needing to raise funds for.
Our family and friends have been extremely generous and we’ve raised over $5000. We feel so blessed and are very excited at our progress, but we know we still have a long ways to go. We’re hoping the community will want to get involved and support us too. We feel like that has begun as the JUBILEE global gift shop downtown Leavenworth is offering 10% of proceeds, when you mention our name, in December towards our fundraising effort. They even sponsored a city along our route and that’s really neat to see a business coming along side us.
Jacob and his family began blogging about their fundraising journey and will continue as he cycles the country. Individuals, families and business that sponsor a city will be mentioned by name when the city is reached on the cycling tour.
“It’s going to be a fun way to interact and personally thank all those who have helped us make the trip possible," Jacob said. "They aren’t just helping one man; every dollar we raise will multiply along our journey and go towards fighting slavery in SE Asia. It’s a ripple effect that starts in our valley and is felt across the world.”
Jacob will be holding a New Year’s Eve Decadent Dessert Auction on December 31st at 6:30-9:30pm. The event will be held at 1530 Alpensee Strasse in Leavenworth. There will be live music, snacks, apple cider and a silent auction featuring over $600 of handmade desserts. Tickets are $5 per person or $15 for a family. Tickets are available by calling or emailing Whitney at 782-1920 or achesonfam@gmail.com.
