Renovation nearly complete at the Leavenworth Ski Hill Lodge

Take advantage of this unusual late season ski opportunity!

The Leavenworth Winter Sports Club has nearly completed renovating the Ski Hill Lodge, a project that has been nearly a year in the making. It started with a fundraiser in October 2010 with local donations. The total cost of the project so far adds up to $47,000 and includes installations of a new cedar shake roof, new electrical and plumbing.

The Ski Hill Lodge was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s and continues to operate on a lease agreement with the National Forest Service.

The LWSC has managed winter operations for the Ski Jump, Tube Park, Alpine Ski Area and Nordic Trails for more than 82 years.

The old building was in dire need of substantial upgrades. Capital improvements become a serious endeavor for the LWSC, a non-profit organization that strives to maintain low ski rates - starting at just $10 for individual or $35 for family day tickets.

With the help of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest Service and Job Corps, the LWSC was able to start working on the lodge renovations in August 2011 and have a scheduled completion date of October 1st.

Coincidentally this is also the final date of their season pass sale which was coordinated to help finance the rest of the work.

The next big assignment for the location will be hosting the Junior Olympic Nordic Qualifiers in February.
