The Wells House Players led by Rod Molzan in their 17th year performed “Love’s Labor Lost” July 17-20th at Ohme Gardens in Wenatchee Washington.
Students committed to the “Wells House Players” program practiced outdoors daily from 9-3 PM four weeks prior in the height of summer. Their instruction included history & English lessons as time period culture was discussed, and defining unfamiliar words needing to be memorized from their script. Costumes were provided by the troupes revolving closet from one program to the next, keeping it budget friendly.
The gardens offered an evening discount to wander through the waterfalls and hidden pathways before the show; parents, friends and family filled the house as the young performers ages 8-16 yrs turned their daily rehearsals into an impressive performance.
The humor of Shakespeare infused with local talent and the energy of youth made for a delightful combination. With humble beginnings many return year after year to improve their craft and find theatre suits their fancy as their role responsibilities increase with age.
Rod Molzan is known for his love of history, published monthly in “The Good Life” magazine produced locally. His ability to develop a format which creates a friendly community between actors and actresses with flourishing hugs as the closing night came to an end and summer vacation began in earnest.
